About Us

Who We Are

JJ McMahon is a kindergarten with a strong sense of community, where families and children of all cultures, backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and included in all aspects of the program. We invite all families to participate in the life of the kinder and provide opportunities to get to know others in our community. They are recognised by staff as the children’s first teachers and strongly believe in an equal partnership with them to provide the best care and education for their children.

The children are viewed as capable and competent learners, their voices are valued and their input into the planning and programming is evident as our beautiful indoor and outdoor environments evolve to reflect their needs and interests. Children are provided with many opportunities throughout the day to engage in messy and risky play and to explore their natural environment.

All staff are dedicated to building strong relationships with children, and on enhancing each child’s social and emotional development in a happy and secure environment. Staff are passionate in the belief that children learn through play, and use their knowledge of child development and the individual child to create learning opportunities that encourage independent thinking, curiosity and a sense of wonder.

Committee

Our Kindergarten is run by a Committee of Management comprised of volunteer parents and operations staff.

Parental involvement in the kindergarten’s administration ensures that the community’s needs are considered and provides an interesting and rewarding input into your child’s education. It is a great chance to get involved, get to know other parents and families, give back to your community and make an important difference to your child's world.

The Committee meets monthly and is responsible for the management and financial operation of the kindergarten. The members volunteer at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and commit to a twelve month period.

Parents who are not Committee members are encouraged to participate in Committee activities and are welcome to attend meetings.
